If you are from near Sheffield or Huddersfield or are visiting the area we highly recommend a trip to Smallshaw Spa.

This spa is part of the cottages so if you want to stay you could do this too! The cottages look absolutely gorgeous and we particularly loved the outdoor areas for guests.

These cottages and spa are family ran and you can really tell as you get such personal treatment. From the lovely emails you receive before going and if you call for any queries (like we did as our confirmation email went to junk and we couldn’t find it!), they are super helpful and friendly.

This spa really is in the middle of no where and that’s what makes it so special. You drive down a small country lane to get it it and are surrounded by fields and farm animals. If you want an escape in the country then this is your place to go.

We decided to go for the Signature Smallshaw package which was £89 per person. This included a 1 hour full body massage and 3 hour access to the spa facilities. There are many different packages to choose from and they often have amazing special offers so make sure to check the offers page too.

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who took us to the changing rooms and told us to meet her back at reception in our robes for a tour. We were both given locker keys which would contain everything we needed. The locker had a small towel, robe, flip flops and a large towel for after showering. All were tied in a lovely white bow. The changing rooms were small but when there are only 8 lockers you know instantly this is a small spa not for many people and we were in for a cute treat.

The tour was quick but informative and we were shown all the facilities and how to use everything. We were told the time of our massage and they said they would come and get us so we didn’t have to worry about checking the time.

The spa was small but the perfect size and we basically had it to ourselves for the majority of the time. There were 3 saunas and 1 steam room. There were 3 foot spas a sensory shower and our highlight the hot tub which was outside.

It was amazing to be sat in the hot tub and watch all the horses, sheep and feel involved in country life!

And now to the massage, before the massage we were given a smoothie shot and hot cloth. The spa was perfect and very professional and we came out feeling a billion times better. Afterwards we were taken to the chill out zone which had lots of bean bags and magazines.

Included in the package was a glass of bubbly or a beer and the staff brought us our drinks to the chill out room. As it was a nice day we asked if we could drink outside and we were told of course. As the beer was in a glass however it wasn’t allowed in the hot tub. However the prosecco was in a plastic glass it could be taken in the hot tub.

We highly recommend visiting this spa and next time we want to stay in one of the cute cottages too!!
