Chocolate Gift Guide

Chocolate chocolate chocolate…. YUM! It is one of our favourite things to eat and at Christmas time it seems to be EVERYWHERE! Next year we really want to hop on the euro tunnel to Bruges to try all of the amazing chocolate and to bring some back for our chocolate obsessed friends and family!

So sadly we are not jetting off to Bruges this year but that isn’t going to stop us buying all of these chocolate gifts! We thought we would write a chocolate gift guide (because we all have that friend that loved reviving all things chocolate related).

MIA Chocolate Gift Set

we love MIA, we have tried their chocolate several times and keep going back for me! They taste great in desserts as well (read all about it here). The MIA 5 Bar Gift set is he perfect present for any chocolate lover, especially if they love dark chocolate.

The 5 bar gift set are presented beautifully in a gold foil book. Inside you will find 1 bar of each: 75% Dark Chocolate, Almond & Coconut, Cranberry & Hazelnut, Candid Orange and Coconut.

This gift is so beautiful and so delicious that we would definitely give this to any chocolate lover as a main present! It costs £22.40 so its also a great price for such high quality chocolate.

We are going to gift it to our boyfriends mums this Christmas as we know they are chocolate lovers and will really appreciate it as a gift.

Chocolate Recipe Book- if the person loves to bake or cook then a chocolate recipe book would be the perfect idea! We love this one found… who would known there were so many options!

Thornton’s Chocolate- We love these super cute Thornton’s chocolate elf models! There are a few options to choose from on the Thornton’s website including a Santa, reindeer and a snowman. Not only do they look good but they also taste great! There is also the option to get it personalised for FREE which we love (we like everything way more when it’s personalised)! It only costs £7 which we personally think is a bargain.

Chocolate Bath Bomb- Next have such a great range of chocolate scented products so make sure you head on over and check it out! We loved the set of three bath bombs, they come in all different flavours (salted caramel, mint chocolate and chocolate cherry)! They only cost £6 as well so a bargain if you ask us!

Pure Heavenly Chocolate- This is another brand that sells incredible chocolate! We have tried several of their flavours before but this time we opted for; silk chocolate, fruit & nut, coffee and dark ginger. We cannot wait to give these to our parents as part of their Christmas stockings! We especially love the Pure Heavenly packaging it’s so pretty and makes the gift extra special.

Initial Chocolate Bar- who doesn’t want a chocolate bar with their initials on it? We love these chocolate bars we found on the next website, they are the perfect stocking filler!

Homemade treats- we love to bake and we also love receiving homemade goods! These cookies would be the perfect present for any chocolate lover, place them on a Christmas plate and wrap them in cellophane! We follow the Tania Burr recipe and it is just divine!

Selection Box- in our eyes Christmas isn’t Christmas unless we receive at least one selection box!

Secret Santa Ideas

Secret Santa is always such a good idea at the time but then when it comes to actually buying the present it can sometimes be a lot harder than its meant to be! Especially when Secret Santa often occurs with groups of people you don’t know that well!

We have pulled together some ideas for you to help you find that perfect present or maybe a perfect jokey present!

For her:

Christmas socks:Novelty socks are a great idea and many places stock some funky socks this time of year. Primark sell super cheap socks so you’ll find a bargain there. Accessorise also have some cool socks, we really like these Mince Pie before Guys ones. Happy Socks are a bit more up market but have a fab range and you can even get your sock in a cracker!

A-Z gifts: Initial gifts have really taken off and everyone loves a personalised present (we know we do). From a mug with the letter of your name on it (we love these ones from M&S) to a key ring, make up bag or coaster you cannot go wrong here. We love this coaster from Oliver Bonas and Accessorize has the most amazing collection of initial keyrings for less than £8.

Gin Lover: We love gin, as do all our friends so these gin themed gifts are perfect secret Santa presents. How cute are these glasses from Argos! We love coffee mugs that pretend to have gin in them, such as this one that says ‘mines a g&t’ or this cute mug saying ‘coffee or gin’. The other slogan we love is ‘gym and tonic’ so this gym tote bag is perfect!
A more novelty idea is gin pong, this is the perfect game to play with the girls and the ideal secret santa gift at only £9.99.
You could also buy a gin smelling candle for that gin lover, if you have a tight budget for Secret Santa at only £6 from M&S, we love this gin candle.
We also much prefer to drink gin out of large gin glasses, why does it taste better that way? These gorgeous glasses are excellent value from Next.

For that cold friend: We all have that friend who is always cold (que tagging them on all the memes/vides on Facebook!), so here are some gifts to warm them up! We love this Unicorn hottie which you heat in the microwave. We are obsessed with these heat warming mouse pads, they come in 4 different animals and are SO cute! Of course onesies are still very much in fashion and the perfect gift for someone to chill around the house in. This giraffe onesie is adorable and we love this Unicorn one too, not to mention you could also be a llama!

For him:

Games: Games are a great gift to give a man because no matter how old they are they will take it very seriously and get stuck in! Pass the Sprout is a fun festive game a bit like pass the parcel. This selection of wind up toys will also go down a treat and you can imagine everyone in the office racing them and cheering their character on!

Socks- we always love the men’s socks in river island, I have got my boyfriend them for a few years now and he loves them! They aren’t just normal socks they usually have cool things stitched on them like these candy cane ones.

Poo gifts: Sorry to be gross but men love poo jokes, so these hilarious gifts will sure get a couple of laughs! This poo head game where you have to catch poo looks like it could be lots of fun. Or is there someone you know or someone in the office who disappears off to the toilet for AGES, this poo timer could be the perfect novelty gift for them!

Christmas: Our favourite Christmas Jumpers of 2018

Last year we had such fun writing our post of all the Christmas Jumpers we loved so we thought we would do it again!

For the Harry Potter Lover – this jumper from Boohoo is amazing! It has such a quirky slogan and we love it!

For the person who loves a tipple – This is a very fashion forward Christmas jumper, it’s not crazy patterned but has a jokes slogan. You may not want to wear to the office Christmas party, but to the girlie Christmas meal, its perfect! Thanks Missguided! We also love this one from New Look, it looks very cosy too!

For the classy one – For that person who loves to wear black on black on black, this jumper from ASOS may be the perfect one for them! We love the slogan and it ensures you will still look stylish over the festive season!

For the pregnant one – There are just SO many fun jumpers out there for those who are preggers over the Christmas period. We love the ‘Best Present Ever’ slogan on this jumper from ASOS

For the Gin Lover – Oh Come Let us Adore Gin, what a fabulous slogan this is on this jumper from New Look.

For the FRIENDS lover – we all have that one friend who knows all the quotes, famous lines and sayings from Friends, so this jumper from New Look will suit them perfectly!

For the dog lover – How cute is this jumper with a sausage dog on it from Next. We love that it’s a ‘traditional’ Christmas jumper style with the added touch of a sausage dog!! If you prefer Dalmatians then Asda have the perfect jumper for you instead!

We had so much fun scouting the internet to find the perfect jumper for you to wear on Friday – if there are any other epic ones you want to share with us leave the links in the comments below!!

How to cope with stress

We all go through stressful situations in life and some people can deal with the situations better than others. We have compiled a little list of how to deal with things when life throws you a curveball.

Exercise- The endorphin’s that are released relax you and also make you feel happier. We find that exercising helps us to relax and also to clear our heads and forget about the stresses in life. In particular we love going on a long run which helps clear your head and its just you, your thoughts and the big outdoors

Talking to people- Talking to people about how you feel will always make you feel better. Like the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved. Make sure you have supportive friends around you to make you feel better and to talk things out.

Cooking/baking- We find that being in the kitchen and doing something productive is another great way to deal with feel stressed or worried. We really find baking to be very therapeutic and often after a bad day/week at work you will find us in the kitchen making some chocolate brownies or banana bread.

Shopping- Sometimes by treating yourself it makes you feel better and sometimes you deserve to be spoilt. Go and buy yourself a new top or handbag.

Chocolate- Chocolate may not be the answer but we know how tasty chocolate is, and sometimes you just need to enjoy that bag of maltesers or chocolate buttons. You should never feel guilty for stopping by the shops to grab your favourite chocolate to cheer you up and make you feel better.

We would love to know how you de stress as well! Let us know in the comments 😊

Walking In The Woods

Do you ever just wake up in the morning and all you fancy doing is going for a long walk through the woods? We LOVE walking we think it does wonders for the mind and we always feel so much better for it.

There is something about getting out of bed on a Sunday morning, putting on some trainers, our scruffy clothes and getting outside to enjoy the fresh air in this beautiful world we live in. Sundays are usually our rest days from the gym so instead we slow down the pace and just go for a casual stroll instead, it’s the only time of the week where we actually slow down, no wonder our minds work at 100mph if our bodies are doing exactly the same.

We have both been lucky enough to grow up with the woods just a stone throw away and trust us we don’t take it for granted, we absolutely love it and we make the most of it wherever possible.  Sunday morning are always so peaceful we rarely see another soul, which always surprises us as we always expect to see lots of people, although saying that  most people are probably enjoying a lazy Sunday in bed  as we are known to wake up unusually early.  You will see us out in the woods come rain, snow or shine, we especially love it in the snow it’s like our own little winter wonderland where we can pretend we are in Narnia it’s truly is beautiful.

We have never understood why people HATE walking? Walking is free and one of the easiest ways to get fit and become more active yet so many people hate it. As a society it has become too easy to get from A to B without using your legs, there are so many different types of transport these days it has resulted in us not having to walk.

We are those people that think it’s possible to WALK anywhere and everywhere, we recently saw a meme on Facebook of this and it made us laugh because that is us down to a T! We always try and beat the Google Maps whenever we walk anywhere it’s become a little game we have, because we are so COOL!

Christmas Day Breakfast

We actually cannot believe that Christmas has come around so quickly, how are we already thinking about what we are going to eat for breakfast on Christmas morning, its mad. We did however think it would be the perfect opportunity to share with you a little recipe that will help start your Christmas morning, nothing fancy just keeping v simple, v quick and most importantly vv tasty.

Christmas breakfast has always been quite a big deal in our households, we always start our Christmas with a super yummy breakfast and a glass or two of champagne. Christmas Day always revolves around food and every meal has got that extra bit of magic added to it usually in the form of champagne in our houses. We have therefore decided to jazz up our breakfast up this year to make it that little bit more special and went for waffles topped with cream cheese and smoked salmon YASSS! If you wanted to you could even shape the waffles into snowflakes or Christmas trees!

recipe below makes 5 waffle so double or tripple the recipe if you have more mouths to feed.

Ingredients
125g Plain Flour
½ tsp Caster Sugar
½ tsp Baking Powder
¾ tsp Mustard Powder
¼ tsp Smoked Paprika
½ tsp ground pepper
210ml Milk
65g Unsalted butter
2 Medium eggs

Method
Place the flour, sugar, baking powder, mustard powder, paprika, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
Mix until all ingredients are combined
In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, butter and eggs.
Make a well in the dry mix, and pour the wet mix into it gradually, whisking until fully combined
Leave the batter on the side for 5 minutes
Switch the Waffle Maker on and lightly oil, close the lid and allow the waffle machine to heat up
Once the waffle maker is hot enough pour the mixture into the centre of each waffle
Close the lid and leave to cook for 4 minutes, without opening the lid
Open the lid of the machine carefully and remove the waffle
Repeat with the remaining batter and keep the rest of them warm in the oven on a wire rack to ensure they do not become soggy

It’s Okay To Cry

Overwhelming emotion starts to rise in your chest, your eyes start to water, you can feel the lump getting bigger in your throat and it’s really starting to hurt, you try your hardest not to burst into tears flapping your hand back and forward like a fan in front of your eyes. Its fine you have this under control you will not cry you tell yourself over and over again.  You take a deep breath and walk back into the room, someone asks you if you are okay, you try your hardest to reply with ‘yes I am fine’ but before you can finish your sentence the tears are already rolling down your cheeks and before you know it you are sobbing.

Does the above sound familiar, do you have those days when all you want to do is cry but you really don’t have a clue why? You feel stupid because when someone asks you what’s wrong you don’t even know what to say because you don’t even know why you are crying.

When you finally stop crying, sobbing or even wailing (because let’s be honest we have all been there) we can bet you feel like a tonne of bricks have been taken off your shoulders. We all have these days where we feel more emotional than others don’t feel like you are alone because you certainly are not.

Growing up we were told over and over again don’t be a ‘cry baby’, as if only babies were supposed to cry. Crying can be judged and it has definitely left us feeling embarrassed a fair few times, running to the toilets splashing our face with cold water and slapping more concealer and powder on our faces to try and get rid of our red blotchy faces in the hope that no one will notice. Don’t think it makes you weak, people cry not because they are weak but because they have been strong for too long.

Some people see crying as a sign of weakness but facing up to your emotions involves strength in the form of vulnerability. Holding back the tears doesn’t make the pain or emotions go away instead we are fundamentally digging ourselves a giant hole and burying our emotions alive. So let it all out cry as much as you want and don’t feel like you have to justify why you are crying to anyone.

Motivation to get outside & run

Sometimes we all need a little bit of motivation to get outside and run no matter how much we love running. Now the weather is getting colder it can become harder to find the motivation to put on our running gear and get outside (it’s hard enough getting out of bed in the morning let alone getting outside).

We actually much prefer running in the cold, we can run faster and further, but we do occasionally need a little kick up the butt to get us out in the first place.

Make a plan at the beginning of the week- we like to roughly plan the days we go running but we will always be flexible depending on the weather. If it’s a miserable evening then there is no point forcing yourself outside, you won’t enjoy it and it may put you off going out again.

Download a Podcast- If you have downloaded a podcast that you are really looking forward to listening to then this is likely to motivate you to get outside. Set yourself a deal that you can only listen to the Podcast when you are out running that is sure to get your but into gear.

Running gear- make sure you invest in some running clothes and gloves that are warm enough to get you through the colder winter months. Last year we invested in some running gloves and we have never looked back, they are amazing.

Just keep telling yourself how amazing you will feel after- try and remember the feeling you get after every run, we love the feeling after a run we don’t get this feeling after any other workout. You will also find that running takes up less of your time than heading to the gym, you don’t have to wait for anyone to finish with equipment and you also don’t have the journey time to factor in.

Make a date – we always find that arranging to run with someone else is all the motivation you need, you have made a commitment to your friend after all.

Find a local running club- If you haven’t got any friends or colleagues who enjoy running then why not find a running club to join there are so many free running clubs around and it’s a great way to keep you motivated during the colder months.

Sign up to a race- sign up for a spring run that way you will have to get outside and run otherwise. Having a race in the calendar and something to work towards is a great motivator especially if you haven’t run the distance before.

Our top 7 Christmas traditions

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, there is always so much going on and we flippin love it! Who wouldn’t?? The food, family fun, Christmas parties and mulled wine are just a selection of traditions we LOVE! We wouldn’t change our current Christmas traditions for the world they make our Christmas just that extra bit special we are however open to new traditions and each year we seem to pick up a few more along the way.

Leaving out food and drink for Santa – we may be 25 years old, but we will still leave Santa a mince pie and a glass of sherry or wine and a carrot for Rudolf. Its the best tradition ever and we will continue it on forever

Christmas Carol Concert – we love going to Carol Concerts and singing all those Christmas songs. Carols really get you all excited for Christmas. There are so many ones in London and one year we went to one at St Paul’s Cathedral and it was lovely.

Christmas weekend away with the girls- Its now become a tradition to go away for the weekend in the run up to Christmas. The first year we went to Bristol and had the best time exploring the markets and a crazy night out. Last year we went to Sheffield for a fab weekend which included visiting the Peak District. This year we are off to Bath and cannot wait!

Christmas presents- We always swap Christmas presents with each other as close to Christmas as possible. This year we will be swapping gifts on the 19th December and we are SO excited about it.

New year new goals- At the end of the year we always sit down with one another to discuss our goals for the following year. You can read all about how we go about setting ourselves goals over on our blog post.

Christmas baking evenings- We love to bake and for all of you that have been reading our blogs or following our Instagram for a while will know we used to always have Friday evening baking evenings and they were THE best! Things have been really hectic recently we haven’t been able to do one in a while so this year we made sure we didn’t cancel our annual Christmas baking day! This year we made gingerbread men yummy!

Chloe’s Christmas party- for the past couple of years one of our closest friends has thrown a cheese and wine party in her flat. You can only imagine the amount of wine and cheese we consumed in that evening!

What are you’re traditions? We would love to know.

A Christmas Day in Bath

We went away to Bath recently for a girly trip away and oh my gosh we well and truly fell in love with the city it is beautiful and we cannot wait to return. There are so many things we want to do in Bath that we didn’t get the chance to do, our weekend was cut short due the snow which was such a shame but even more of a reason to go back.

Run- We always go for a run whenever we stay in a new city, we love waking up at the crack of dawn and getting outside when it is still nice and peaceful it’s the best way to explore a city. This time I was sadly alone but I had such a great run and ended up running 5 miles around Bath seeing sites I would never have seen otherwise. No one ever told me how hilly Bath was though my run started with an incline and pretty much went up and up but it’s true what they say what goes up must come down which was a nice way to end the run.

Brunch spots we want to visit- We made brunch at our apartment this time but if we return we would love to go to several brunch spots in Bath as they all look delicious. Brunch spots we have added to our list our; The Ivy Brasserie, Cosy Club & Boston Tea Party. We have been to several Ivy’s before but we just love them so would love to see what this one has to offer. Boston Tea Party is definitely top of the list though it looks super cute and quirky and the menu looks incredible.

Markets- Bath has become really well known for the Christmas markets and this is one of the reasons why we chose to go to Bath. Luckily we went when the markets were still up as they close on the 10th December (although we have heard rumours they may be extending next year). We loved the hustle and bustle as we walked the streets weaving in and out of the Christmas markets.

Coffee- would it really be a girly weekend away if we didn’t do a bit of coffee shop hopping? As a group we all love coffee and it’s the perfect place to sit down and have a catch up we don’t always get to spend good quality time together so it really was lovely. There are so many independent coffee shops around Bath and we really wanted to try some of them out but as you can imagine they were packed and with a group of six it was hard to get a table so this time we opted for Neros, but we have made note of other coffee shops we will have to go back to so stay tuned for another post!

Mulled wine in the Lodge- We love the Lodge we actually visited last year and spent all afternoon inside sipping on mulled wine so we had to go back again this year. It was the perfect place to stop after a long day of walking and shopping. Its super cosy inside (although you may have to wait for a seat they are in demand).

If you have never been to Bath before we would definitely recommend a visit we will be returning sooner rather than later! We had quite a chilled trip but next time we will be doing more activities and we will definitely we visiting the Roman baths!
