A Tourist Guide to Alcudia

Alcudia is one of the main tourist towns in the North of Majorca on the Eastern Coast and we can see why it is so popular with tourists and we can especially see why families are attracted.  We visited Alcudia in July 2017 and had a great time, we had been in Palma De Majorca the capital of Majorca for a few days before so it was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

If you are looking to book a holiday to Alcudia this year why not book it through Holiday Gems who sell amazing holidays to Alcudia!

Old Town- Many tourists visit Port De Alcudia and don’t realise Alcudia has an Old Town which in our eyes is the best thing about Alcudia.  Alcudia Old Town is surrounded by a Medieval Wall which is absolutely stunning. We wondered around the Old Town for hours weaving in and out of the quaint streets admiring the 13th century houses.

We stayed in Port De Alcudia in a hotel called EIX Alcudia (Adults only) it was a 2 minute walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. We walked to Alcudia Old Town for dinner a couple of times in the evening as it was only a 30 minute walk and by then the temperatures had dropped.

Eating dinner in Port De Alcudia- Port De Alcudia has a great selection of restaurants we were never stuck for choice and in fact we never had a bad meal. We would recommend eating by the Port the restaurants are great and you also get to look out at the port and if you are anything like us you will be dreaming about owning one of the incredible yachts that is mooring. Many of the restaurants will offer you a free jug of Sangria if you go to their restaurant which is a nice added bonus.

There are also a couple of bars along the port that have a relaxed atmosphere and a great cocktail menu. We enjoyed a couple of gin & tonics and the odd pint of beer (there is something about drinking beer in holiday) which we have to say were delicious and very refreshing in the hot July heat.

Bike Hire- We had a cloudy day in the middle of our holiday so we decided to hire bikes for the day, there are lots of places in Alcudia that you can hire bikes from so you won’t have any problems locating a bike hire shop. It was ridiculously cheap and only cost us 10 euros for the entire day, bargain! We cycled from Alcudia to Port De Pollenca which is a 6 mile cycle along the see front, we were really impressed as they had wide cycle lanes on the side of the road (much wider than in the UK) which made us feel safe whilst cycling on the road.

Port De Pollenca is a small town that again attracts thousands of tourists every summer, we wondered around and stopped off for an iced coffee which was delicious, we are glad we visited Port De Pollenca and we would definitely consider staying here if we were to visit Majorca again. It’s was definitely our favourite day of the holiday we love keeping active on holiday whilst exploring new places so this ticked both boxes.

Boat Trip- We love going on a boat trip and almost every holiday we make sure we fit one in so that’s exactly what we did when we were in Alcudia. We paid for the cheapest boat trip because it looked great but on hindsight we wish we had splashed out a bit and either hired our own boat or upgraded to the more expensive boat trip. The boat trip we went on was incredibly busy there wasn’t even enough space for everyone to sit down which was just mad, we felt like sardines. It’s important to note that Alcudia isn’t the first pick up point so when you get on the boat there are already guests on board so it really was a mad rush to find a space.

Palma De Majorca- If you are staying in Majorca for a couple of weeks we would definitely recommend a day trip to Palma De Majorca. We stayed here for 3 days before arriving in Alcudia and absolutely loved it. There is so much to do there you definitely won’t be bored.

If you do manage a trip to Palma then definitely try our Ice Wave they do the most delicious frozen yoghurt!

Enjoy your holiday, let us know if you have any questions about Alcudia, as always we are happy to answer!

We also vlogged our trip and you can watch all our videos! We have linked them below.

Brunch review: Bills

Bills is a well-known restaurant located around the UK,  in the last few years more and more Bills seem to be popping up which we absolutely love and it means wherever you visit you are usually close to one.  We love visiting Bills we have never been served a bad meal and the staff are always incredibly friendly.

We visit regularly for lunch and dinner but we had never been for brunch before, We are just as surprised as you are we are not sure how this has happened?

One of our friends recently invited us to her engagement brunch and her restaurant of choice was Bills which we were SO chuffed about. We did of course take a look at the menu beforehand (who doesn’t) and we already wanted to taste EVERYTHING on the menu. Why it is that brunch food is always SO good, it makes it so hard to choose what to have.

The breakfast/brunch menu includes; full English fry ups (meat and veggie of course), coconut porridge, bacon or sausage bap, a selection of buttermilk pancakes and lots of egg dishes.

Rach went for the buttermilk pancakes served with streaky bacon and maple syrup, they were SO delicious. The three pancakes were like a dream they were light and fluffy and cooked until golden brown they were incredibly filling and the portion size was perfect. The Bacon was extra crispy (our favourite) and the generous maple syrup completed the dish perfectly.

Annie opted for the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on wholemeal toast with which again was amazing. It would have been even better if they had served it with a wedge of lemon on the side, but saying that the waitress was more than happy to go and get some. The dish was filling and really delicious but then again you cannot really go wrong with this dish.

Other members of our party went for the full fry up and we have to say when it was served to them we did have a bit of food envy going on. It looked SO delicious and we especially noticed the quality of the sausages they looked so succulent YUM!

Bills is such good value for money the total of our brunch came to £12 each and that was for our food, drink and a tip on top! We couldn’t believe it we thought it was going to be a lot more than that so it was a pleasant surprise.

The atmosphere in Bills is one of the main reasons why we love it so much, it has chilled vibes and the staff are always really friendly.

Meeting Other Bloggers/Influencers

This time last year the concept of meeting people online and actually meeting up with them would have scared us.  We were worried we wouldn’t know what to say or what to talk about, would it be awkward? How wrong were we!

We used to shy away at events and keep ourselves to ourselves why? We don’t actually know, we have each other so we suppose that is our kind of safety net but we needed to start meeting likeminded people who got this crazy online world.

We have a lot of friends who we love so much and we wouldn’t change them for the world, but none of them run a blog or Instagram, so when we talk to them about certain things like the Instagram algorithm for example it just isn’t the same they look at you like you are mad!

At the end of 2017 we took the plunge and decided to meet up with some of the girls we had been speaking to on social media over the past year. We can honestly say we are so glad we have it was never awkward conversation kept flowing and there was so much we wanted to talk about. Oh and the best part of it? They didn’t find us weird or laugh at us for wanting to take a picture of our food or when we got our camera out to vlog instead they joined in and it was FAB!

Our friends and family who aren’t bloggers seem fascinated by the concept of ‘blogger friends’ but we truly believe that real genuine friendships can be formed online.  It is the norm to meet your partner online these days so what’s wrong with meeting new friends online.

We completely understand that it can be dangerous meeting up with people you do not know so stay safe and make sure you have told family and friends exactly where you are going.

In 2018 we hope to continue the current friendships we formed in 2017 and maybe even meet a few more of you lovelies! Push yourself out of your comfort zone and go and meet some of your friends from the blogging community, stay safe always and have fun!

A long weekend in Dubai

Dubai is the most amazing place we have ever visited, it feels like a dreamland – everything is so well serviced and so clean. However Dubai is also very expensive so we would recommend a long weekend there, 4-5 days will be plenty of time. However if you can afford to go for longer then you will not be bored as there is just SO MUCH to do/the weather is amazing so 2 weeks by a pool or by the beach is a dream come true! With the flight only taking 6 hours it not too bad to get to either.

One thing to point out that everything in Dubai is so spread out, you cannot really walk from place to place, however taxis are ridiculously cheap and one journey can sometimes only cos you £2!

We have done an itinery starting on a Thursday, as Dubai’s weekends are Friday and Saturday so you should definitely try and go for these days.

Day 1 (Thursday):

Zero Gravity Beach Club – this place is insane, you can go and drink and get merry or you can go a chill. We went on a Thursday so the atmosphere was very chilled. If you go on ladies day its a little busier and more lively. You pay entrance but you also get a meal token so its pretty good value.
The food is also amazing, there is lots on the menu and its delicious.
The place itself is gorgeous, you can sit by the infinity pool or on the beach. The pool is a great size and there are lots of bed, if there are lots of you you can get a large circle bed.
Make sure you take epic pictures at the infinity pool and also with the Dubai skyline.

Dinner at Pai Thai is the most amazing experience ever. This restaurant is in the Madinat Jumeirah hotel. If you get your taxi to drop you here you can then walk through the hotel, into their gardens and take a gondola to dinner. The setting is absolutely incredible and feels like a dream world. We would recommend the prawn red curry because it is simply delicious! We were dreaming about the curry for days and we personally believe it was just as good as the real thing in Thailand!
You can then take the gondola/boat back to anywhere you like, however we recommend going to the souks to have a wander around and maybe buy some souvenirs.

Day 2 (Friday):

This is the day for bottomless brunchin’ and it’s amazing! There are so many different ones to choose from, if you want a wild brunch with lots of dancing then go to Candypants at Habtoor Grand. If you want something more classy and where you can dress super super fancy then Saffron is where you want to go, plus this is in Atlantis The Palm. However the list is endless, so have a research and go where you fancy, you will not be disappointed!

Most of the brunch places have an after party, so head to the after party of your brunch or jump in a cab and go to another after party!

Day 3 (Saturday):

Head to the beach at JBR and its a free public beach, plus you can see camels. You can however pay for a bed and a towel to make that sunbathing experience more comfortable. Spend the day here and choose from the many restaurants along the beach front to grab some food. We recommend going to Eggspectation which as the name suggests most the dishes are egg based, so its a breakfast lovers dream!

IMG_3554

Head to Karma Kafe for the most amazing dinner in the evening. Ensure you book a table outside so you can have views of the Burj Khalifa and the hourly fountain show that takes place at the The Dubai Fountain whilst tucking into delicious sushi.

IMG_3605

This is just a whistle stop tour of Dubai however there are many other things that can be explored:
– A visit to the Dubai Mall is a must for all shopping lovers
– Pier 7 on Dubai Marina has a different restaurant on each of the 7 levels
– Boat Tour from Dubai Marina is the best way to see the skyline from the sea, not to mention seeing Atlantis the Palm and, The Palm and The World

Brunch Review: Duck and Waffle Local

We have wanted to visit Duck and Waffle for a while but around Christmas time it was almost impossible to get a reservation at the original one in the Heron Tower, however Duck and Waffle have opened another one on Haymarket And its called Duck and Waffle Local. Okay there may not be those amazing views but we were able to enjoy the delicious food and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

As we were in Duck and WAFFLE we decided to share some WAFFLES. The famous Duck and Waffle dish seemed a little over priced to us and looked a bit small so we decided not to go for that but instead went for Vanilla Fudge Brownie, and The Full Elvis.

As Rach doesn’t like nuts we had the peanut brittle and peanut butter on the side so that Annie could still enjoy her favourite thing ever, peanut butter! Both waffles were super super sweet but equally very delicious and we were glad we shared them as it meant we didn’t have an overload of the same dish.

IMG_0162

In our honest opinion Duck and Waffle Local was a little cramped and the seating was very close together, this would not be the place for a romantic date – but it was fine for us!

We would recommend visiting Duck and Waffle Local if you fancy trying out the famous food, however we most probably would not return here and would rather visit the one in the Heron Tower to enjoy the breathtaking views of London.

5 UK Cities We Want to Visit in 2018

We do love to write about the places we have visited, but this time, we thought we would write a post about the cities we want to visit in the UK. City breaks are great because you can go away for a long weekend, and it can feel like you have been away for ages.

York

We have wanted to visit York for a while not only to see the beautiful cobbled streets but also to visit Betty’s. Of course, with us, it’s always food-related, but Betty’s Tea Rooms are famous in York, plus the food looks divine. However, we would be torn whether to go for brunch in the morning or for tea and cake in the afternoon because they both look so yummy — guess we could go for both.

We would also like to walk down The Shambles, which is the maze of twisting lanes that we have seen in lots of pictures. Of course, we would also visit the famous York Minister, which is the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe.

Canterbury

Canterbury is only an hour’s train ride away from London so it’s easily accessible and a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of London.

Someone recommended we do a walking tour that takes 90 minutes, so we would definitely take part in that. We often go on walking tours when visiting a new city as firstly, we love walking, and secondly, it’s a great way to see all the city and learn about it. The tours leave twice a day, so you’ll be able to join one of them!

Manchester

We stumbled across a blog post about Manchester once, and ever since then, we have wanted to visit! It seems like there is so much to do there, and it is so easy for us to get to Manchester from London!  We would start our day with a run through Heaton Park like we do with any trip we go on!

We would head down to the quays at night to grab some dinner along the waterfront. We feel like when in Manchester, you have to do something football-related, so we would do a football stadium tour.

Newcastle

Newcastle is another city in the north of the UK, and although it may be famous for that crazy TV show called Geordie Shore, it’s also a City we would love to visit!  Newcastle sure does have a crazy night out (including a treble vodka mixer for £5), but there’s much more to the city than that. We would  choose to walk over the Tyne Bridge, as we feel like that is a must if you ever visit Newcastle.

Edinburgh

We have only ever heard good things about Edinburgh, so a visit will definitely be on the cards for 2018. As you probably already know, we love walking, so this would be the perfect city break, as we could visit Arthur’s Seat and challenge ourselves to climb the main mountain in Edinburgh. It wouldn’t be a trip to Edinburgh without a visit to the famous Edinburgh Castle.

Have we left any cities off our list that you think we should visit? We would love to hear your recommendations; there are so many beautiful cities in the UK that we need to explore.

The Perfect Winter Coat

Is it just us or every winter do you have that one new coat that you will always choose to wear over any other coats you own? That is exactly what we have been doing with our Lapasa coat, we absolutely love it, especially as we are now matching head to toe!

lapasa 1.png

Lapasa very kindly sent us both a windproof winter puffer coat in the colour burgundy (our favourite colour) and we haven’t taken it off since. Although it feels quite thin it is incredibly warm and the perfect coat to take if you are travelling somewhere as it is very light weight.

We have been working with Lapasa for a few months now (catch up on our previous blog post about the brand here), we absolutely love working with Lapasa the products are an amazing quality and we couldn’t recommend them enough as a brand.

lapasa 2.png

It is the perfect every day use coat, but would also be great for any outdoor winter sports. We have worn it on so many winter walks over the festive period and everyone always complements us on it.

lapasa 3.png

Lapasa have so many amazing products we couldn’t promote their leggings anymore than we already do. They are super soft and fit amazingly (they are super high waisted which we love). We have got them in a range of colours and literally live in our black ones.

The jacket is £35.95 which is such a good price for a coat especially as it is so versatile. You can also use our code ‘TWOBRITS’ at checkout to get 5% off all orders, we always order the products from the Amazon (the delivery time is amazing).

How to cope with stress

We all go through stressful situations in life and some people can deal with the situations better than others. We have compiled a little list of how to deal with things when life throws you a curveball.

Exercise- The endorphin’s that are released relax you and also make you feel happier. We find that exercising helps us to relax and also to clear our heads and forget about the stresses in life. In particular we love going on a long run which helps clear your head and its just you, your thoughts and the big outdoors

Talking to people- Talking to people about how you feel will always make you feel better. Like the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved. Make sure you have supportive friends around you to make you feel better and to talk things out.

Cooking/baking- We find that being in the kitchen and doing something productive is another great way to deal with feel stressed or worried. We really find baking to be very therapeutic and often after a bad day/week at work you will find us in the kitchen making some chocolate brownies or banana bread.

Shopping- Sometimes by treating yourself it makes you feel better and sometimes you deserve to be spoilt. Go and buy yourself a new top or handbag.

Chocolate- Chocolate may not be the answer but we know how tasty chocolate is, and sometimes you just need to enjoy that bag of maltesers or chocolate buttons. You should never feel guilty for stopping by the shops to grab your favourite chocolate to cheer you up and make you feel better.

We would love to know how you de stress as well! Let us know in the comments 😊
