We were invited to an Island Poke X Bjorn Borg event in September which was a running event followed by Poke from Island Poke! When we arrived we were handed our activewear and also a small envelope and inside that envelope was an Island Poke pink card!
This pink card entitles us to one free Island Poke a day for the rest of the year! We were literally so surprised, how incredible!
We have been visiting Island Poke all the time for the past couple of months so we thought we would write a blog post about their bowls and which ones are our favourites! We are super sad our card is running to an end as it has been amazing visiting on our lunch break and enjoying a delicious healthy meal!
There are several bowls on the menu at Island Poke and there is also the option to build you own! We are loving the build your own boxes as it means we can add exactly what we want!
Base
The first question they will ask you is what base you want at the bottom of your poke bowl. You can go light and opt for leafy greens or slaw or you can choose from brown rice or sushi rice if you want something a little more filling. We sometimes opt to have a mixture if we want half rice and half slaw or half greens and half slaw!
Protein
We especially love the miso chicken as it comes with a Huli Huli sauce which is just soooo delicious and we highly recommend! There is also a choice of salmon or tuna which we have also tried and they are super tasty! There is also a plant based tuna if you are veggie/vegan.
Toppings
In our eyes the best bit as there are so many to choose from, it is so hard to get carried away!
Burnt corn- this is so tasty and we almost always opt for this topping as we both love sweet corn and it tasted bbq’d!
Mango- if you love mango then you have to choose this topping, at first you may find it weird to add fruit to a savoury dish but honestly it is so good!
Wakame seaweed- we did not try this topping until recently as we thought it had garlic in it but turns out it doesn’t and now we wish you had tried to earlier on! If tastes like a healthy version of Chinese seaweed!
Edamame- this is a great edition and always good to get some greens in!
Fresh Chilli- this is quite spicy and does add a kick to the bowl so if you are not a fan of super spicy toppings then this one probably isn’t for you!
Guacamole (£1 extra)- this is a premium topping but so good if you want to get some healthy fats into your meal! It’s super flavoursome as well!
Mac nuts (£1 extra)- these spicy mac nuts are so great and add a crunch to the bowl! I had not tried macadamia nuts before but I have been converted!
There are so many other toppings to choose from, these are just our favourites! So if you are in London and fancy a healthy delicious lunch then Island Poke is the place for you! Find out where they are located here.
