Alcudia is one of the main tourist towns in the North of Majorca on the Eastern Coast and we can see why it is so popular with tourists and we can especially see why families are attracted. We visited Alcudia in July 2017 and had a great time, we had been in Palma De Majorca the capital of Majorca for a few days before so it was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
If you are looking to book a holiday to Alcudia this year why not book it through Holiday Gems who sell amazing holidays to Alcudia!
Old Town- Many tourists visit Port De Alcudia and don’t realise Alcudia has an Old Town which in our eyes is the best thing about Alcudia. Alcudia Old Town is surrounded by a Medieval Wall which is absolutely stunning. We wondered around the Old Town for hours weaving in and out of the quaint streets admiring the 13th century houses.
We stayed in Port De Alcudia in a hotel called EIX Alcudia (Adults only) it was a 2 minute walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. We walked to Alcudia Old Town for dinner a couple of times in the evening as it was only a 30 minute walk and by then the temperatures had dropped.
Eating dinner in Port De Alcudia- Port De Alcudia has a great selection of restaurants we were never stuck for choice and in fact we never had a bad meal. We would recommend eating by the Port the restaurants are great and you also get to look out at the port and if you are anything like us you will be dreaming about owning one of the incredible yachts that is mooring. Many of the restaurants will offer you a free jug of Sangria if you go to their restaurant which is a nice added bonus.
There are also a couple of bars along the port that have a relaxed atmosphere and a great cocktail menu. We enjoyed a couple of gin & tonics and the odd pint of beer (there is something about drinking beer in holiday) which we have to say were delicious and very refreshing in the hot July heat.
Bike Hire- We had a cloudy day in the middle of our holiday so we decided to hire bikes for the day, there are lots of places in Alcudia that you can hire bikes from so you won’t have any problems locating a bike hire shop. It was ridiculously cheap and only cost us 10 euros for the entire day, bargain! We cycled from Alcudia to Port De Pollenca which is a 6 mile cycle along the see front, we were really impressed as they had wide cycle lanes on the side of the road (much wider than in the UK) which made us feel safe whilst cycling on the road.
Port De Pollenca is a small town that again attracts thousands of tourists every summer, we wondered around and stopped off for an iced coffee which was delicious, we are glad we visited Port De Pollenca and we would definitely consider staying here if we were to visit Majorca again. It’s was definitely our favourite day of the holiday we love keeping active on holiday whilst exploring new places so this ticked both boxes.
Boat Trip- We love going on a boat trip and almost every holiday we make sure we fit one in so that’s exactly what we did when we were in Alcudia. We paid for the cheapest boat trip because it looked great but on hindsight we wish we had splashed out a bit and either hired our own boat or upgraded to the more expensive boat trip. The boat trip we went on was incredibly busy there wasn’t even enough space for everyone to sit down which was just mad, we felt like sardines. It’s important to note that Alcudia isn’t the first pick up point so when you get on the boat there are already guests on board so it really was a mad rush to find a space.
Palma De Majorca- If you are staying in Majorca for a couple of weeks we would definitely recommend a day trip to Palma De Majorca. We stayed here for 3 days before arriving in Alcudia and absolutely loved it. There is so much to do there you definitely won’t be bored.
If you do manage a trip to Palma then definitely try our Ice Wave they do the most delicious frozen yoghurt!
