We love watching vlogs we watch so many different YouTubers vlogging about all sorts of things. The more we watched the more we wanted to start our own channel. We wanted to be able to watch back on our adventures just like we watch everyone else’s. Imagine in five years time being able to watch back vlogs from a holiday or a day out.
The entire ‘Three Brits’ brand was originally going to be a YouTube channel, as well as other social media platforms but we always wanted to prioritise YouTube. That never really happened and instead Instagram, Twitter and the blog took priority. To be completely honest we were terrified of vlogging and didn’t have a clue what to say to the camera. We posted our first and only video in October 2015, we didn’t talk in the video and instead had music playing in the background as we filmed our day on a GoPro. We have since made the video private as we wanted to start fresh in March 2017.
So many people told us to start a YouTube channel but we just never thought people would actually want to watch our videos. We decided to set it as one of our New Years resolution (we know who ever sticks to them) but when Three Brits is concerned we always make a special effort to stick to our goals and aspirations because they challenge us and help us develop. So March came around and we had our friends wedding on the 11th March so we decided it would be the perfect day to film our first vlog. We edited the video the following weekend and it went live on Saturday 18th March 2017 there was no going back now!
We thought we would find our first vlog so awkward especially introducing ourselves but do you know what we didn’t find it awkward at all. Once you forget about people looking at you it’s fine, plus we do have each other which makes it slightly less scary.
We originally thought we would have loads of takes for our introduction but we were actually happy with our first take. We know it wasn’t perfect (we may have used our hands a lot and pulled some questionable facial expressions) but you know what that’s us and we are not perfect and nor do we want anyone to think we are.
We have a lot of work to do but we are really excited to improve our skills both filming and editing. We can’t wait to look back in the future at our first video and laugh like we do with our blog and Instagram photos. We are glad we waited to start YouTube and didn’t peruse it from the beginning, we have learnt so much about social media in the past year that we think it will really help us run our YouTube channel. It has already been so much fun and we hope you will follow us on our journey and enjoy watching our vlogs and videos.
Massive shoutout to our Twitter family who have been supportive as ever (we know we can always count on them). We couldn’t be more thankful for your continuous support and for encouraging us to start the channel in the first place.
Please subscribe to our channel where we will be posting regular vlogs, workout videos, sit down chatty videos and what I eat in a day videos. We are always looking for ways to improve so any tips would be great!
