Offices and other places of work can literally end your healthy eating and balanced diet before you have even attempted to start. Every day there are homemade cakes and biscuits on offer, not to mention the ice cream rounds during the summer. We decided to write some of our top tips that will hopefully help you stick to eating healthy whilst at work.
Prep your meals-Make your lunch and take it to work with you instead of purchasing fast convenient foods. You could take your leftovers from the night before or make a fresh salad. This way you know what foods you are putting in your body which will help you stay on track. Not only will it make you feel 10 times better it will also save you a lot of money!
Get up- Why not try getting off the train a stop earlier and walking to the office. It’s a great way to up your step count before you sit down at your desk all day, plus you can’t beat a bit of fresh air in the morning. If you have the time at lunch use this time to stretch your legs whether that is a leisurely stroll or a lunch time run.
Enjoy your Lunch-Try not to dine ‘al desko’ instead take time away from your desk and really enjoy the food you are consuming. Take this time getting to know your work colleagues or even just spend 10 minutes to yourself. You might even find you are more productive when you return to your desk.
Office snacks- Make sure you have healthy snacks on hand. This could be energy balls, rice cakes with nut butter, veggies with hummus the list could go on and on. When you have healthy snacks you are less likely to say yes to cake o’clock, saying that if you want a slice of cake go ahead and enjoy that slice of cake, just do so in moderation.
Stay Hydrated- It is so important to keep hydrated at work, keep a bottle of water with you at all times. If you don’t like the taste of plain water try adding some lemon to infuse the water. Sometimes when you feel hungry it’s actually because you are thirsty if you are still hungry after having a drink then refuel your body with a snack.
