Field Doctor have a simple, but big goal. They create amazing tasting food that can boost your health and leaves the planet in a better place one meal at a time! Everything they produce and do is backed by nutrition research. Their in-house dietitian, designs each meal so they are supercharged with knowledge and nutrition.
Field Doctor very kindly sent us 10 of their meals to try which arrive frozen so you can pop them straight in the freezer and get them out when you fancy one! We love this as live starts to get busier we know we will be reaching for them more and more. We also love the fact that they can be cooked both in the oven or in the microwave!
One thing we noticed about Field Doctor was the flavour of the food and how full of the flavour the dishes were. Field Doctor use locally sourced, seasonal produce and cook in small batches. We thought we would do a round up on some of the dishes we tried and what we thought of them!
Aromatic Chicken Tagine
I had to put this one first because it was definitely my favourite! It was full of so many different flavours and I just didn’t want my lunch to end!
The aromatic chicken tagine is made of free range chicken in an aromatic tomato sauce with black olives, courgettes, red peppers, spinach and lemon zest. It is served with whole grain rice and red quinoa which is the perfect accomplishment.
I put this in the oven during a meeting and 45 mins later it was ready for me to eat (I could smell it cooking the entire way through my meeting which made my tummy rumble even more than it already was)! Cannot fault this meal at all it was filling, flavoursome and just all round delicious.
Potato Topped Chicken Pie
This meal was like a warm hug! It was the perfect size (portion size) and it was so flavoursome as well! We would recommend serving this with some boiled veg on the side (broccoli, beans and peas) to add a little something to the plate!
The chicken pie is braised free range british chicken and sauteed vegetables in a rich, herb infused dairy free sauce with spinach and oyster mushrooms and topped with a black pepper and herb new potato topping!
Smokey Chipotle Meatballs
This dish is a low formal dish and is organic British beef & multigrain meatballs in a smokey and aromatic chipotle spiced tomato sauce with a sweet potato & potato mash and topped with toasted pumpkin seeds. This meal takes 40 minutes in the oven or 10 minutes in the microwave (we cooked it in the oven).
This was the first Field Doctor meal I tried and I absolutely loved it! It was full of so many delicious flavours all complementing each other perfectly! You can purchase this dish to serve 1 or 2 so it would be the perfect dish for 2 if you fancy a quick and easy dinner.
Chickpea Masala Curry
The Chickpea Masala Curry is red peppers, British chickpeas, green beans and broccoli in a rich, medium spiced sauce with cashew nuts with a turmeric brown basmati & lentil rice mix! This dish takes 40 minutes in the oven or 8 minutes in the microwave.
This dish would make the perfect lunch time dish, although it is served with rice we did not find it too heavy as it also has lentils in the mix! Just put it in the microwave one lunch time and voila it will be ready 8 minutes later. If you are having this for dinner may serve it with some poppadoms on the side or some naan.
Field Green Risotto
This meal does taste very healthy and nutritious! If you are trying to get some more greens into your diet then this is the meal for you! That doesn’t mean it isn’t tasty though!
The Risotto is British naked barley with peas, broad beans, asparagus, courgette and kale, topped with pecorino cheese and chopped almonds.
I still have a couple more of the Field Doctor dishes to try so head on over to our Instagram to find out what we think of the other meal- we will be sure to put them on our story!
