We have really got into making cocktails at home and in fact they are pretty easy to make! They are making lockdown a bit more fun and something to look forward to at the weekend!
Espresso Martini
We are lucky to have a coffee machine so we can make our own espresso. However am sure a strong cafetière would work or a capsule coffee machine! We actually had these at one of Annie’s Birthday bottomless brunches and have been obsessed with them since (even if it did keep us awake all night).
To make these delicious coffees you need to place all the below in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice and shake like mad. The shaking and the ice is what gives it a nice creamy layer on top. This recipe will make 2 cocktails:
- 100ml vanilla vodka
- 100ml kahlua
- 2 espresso coffees
Don’t forget to top with 3 coffee beans!
Pornstar Martini
To make 2 Pornstar Martinis you need to also place the below in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice:
- 100ml vanilla vodka
- 100ml passoa
- 100ml sugar syrup (to make sugar syrup out equal parts sugar and water in a pan and heat)
- Scoop out the inside of 1 passionfruit
- 50ml lime juice (freshly squeezed is best!)
Slice another passionfruit in half and place each half on top of the cocktail & on the side serve a shot of prosecco and tip in to drink. If you don’t want to open a huge bottle of prosecco we suggest buying a mini bottle from Aldi!
Strawberry Daiquiri
To make 2 frozen daquiri place the below in a blender with plenty of ice and pulse:
- 100ml white rum
- 100ml sugar syrup
- 50ml freshly squeezed lime juice
- Handful of frozen strawberries (if you want to make a different fruit then use these, we will be trying with frozen raspberries next!)
Aperol Spritz
We have loved Aperol Spritz for such a long time! The first time I tried an Aperol was actually at Bestival Festival back in 2013 and I didn’t really know what I was drinking but the bar looked cool and so did the drinks! Rach tried them during a holiday to Rome and was hooked! They are refreshing, tasty and the perfect summer drink!
They are super easy to make especially if you have lots of Prosecco that you want to use but don’t fancy it on it own! I got a huge bottle of Aperol from Amazon for just £20 such a bargain, or the supermarket own brand tastes just as good. We like this one from Sainsburys.
Hugo Spritz
Hugo Spritz were super popular in Budapest when I visited and I just had to try one! My gosh I am so glad I did! I told Rach about them immediately and she actually had a bottle of St Germain at home along with a massive glass jug that had all the measurements on it, so was able to make them that weekend!
They are such a summer drink and we made far too many last summer, so bring on the next one!
Let us know any cocktails you recommend, summer is just around the corner and we cannot wait for the afternoons spent sipping cocktails in the sunshine!
