Escape Lounge at Stansted Airport

Every time we travel we have to go to the airport lounge, it just starts the holiday off the right way! It’s very relaxing and the complimentary food and drink is just fab! As we were travelling from Stansted airport it only seemed right to try the Escape Lounge before our weekend away to Berlin!

The Escape Lounge is located next to Pret A Manger, which is towards the back of the terminal. You can have access to the lounge for up to three hours and it doesn’t have to be exactly three hours before your flight leaves. We thought this was great as often you don’t get the full three hours due to boarding time! We arrived at the lounge at 5:30pm as we knew we would be boarding at around 8:30pm.

When we arrived at the Escape lounge, we were shown to our table by the host and later she returned to let us know our gate number, which we thought was very helpful and a nice gesture.

There is a number of tables in the Escape lounge and a couple of sofas that had all been reserved for larger parties. At the back of the lounge there was also a section for emirates that is cornered off!

Most airport lounges have much better WiFi than the generic WiFi you get in the main terminal and the Escape Lounge did not disappoint. We had a bit of work to get on with so this was really handy!

We helped ourself to a bowl of nachos, salsa and sour cream and asked the waitress for two glasses of red wine. The red wine was a Shiraz and it tasted pretty good to us (but then we are not wine connoisseurs)!

There was a wide selection of soft drinks and also juices and cold water that you can help yourself to. If you are looking for a hot drink then there is also a coffee machine and a wide selection of tea bags we had a couple of peppermint teas!

The food is all self serve which we really like as you can help yourself as and when you want. We noticed there were a selection of sandwiches on offer and cold salads as well.

We opted for the spaghetti Bolognese and also tried some of the chicken pasta! We did notice that the only hot meals on offer when we visited was pasta which we did think was a little strange as if you were gluten free you would not have been able to enjoy a hot meal.

We always find that at the lounges dessert aren’t really a main priority at most lounges at the Escape Lounge they had chocolate muffins & blueberry muffin to choose from!

There was a good selection of magazines at the Escape Lounge, but as we were on a nighttime flight we didn’t grab any, but would definitely recommend checking out the selection.

Thank you so much for having us Escape Lounge we had such a lovely time and it was the most perfect start to our weekend away to Berlin
