Books we have loved this Summer

Going on a summer beach holiday always get me back into reading! When I read I absolutely love it and I always tell myself after every holiday that I will continue to read and this year I am really going to try my hardest and keep it up!

Since getting back from holiday I have finished one book and I am already onto the next! Reading on the train is so much better than being on my phone (I say whilst typing this on my commute home). I find the journey goes super quickly and it is 2 hours less a day that I am spent looking at a screen.

I have also started reading before going to bed and I find I fall asleep instantly, which is so great. I have got into the habit of switching my phone on aeroplane mode so I am not distracted.

Truly Madly Deeply by Liane Moriarty

I started this book on holiday and honestly I couldn’t put it down, it was full of drama, suspense and so many secrets that are slowly unraveled throughout the book.

In just one evening six lives change forever, a lifelong friendship will be in tatters, a marriage on the rocks and an innocent bystander dead! I cannot recommend this easy to read book enough!

Miss You by Kate Eberlen

If there were ever a couple that were meant to be then it is these two characters (Tess and Gus). This was an amazing story about two lives that keep crisscrossing over the years without them even knowing! I finished this book super quick as I just couldn’t put it down and I wanted to find out what was going to happen next.

It follows the characters lives over a period of 16 years where you will see the challenges they both have to face and overcome. I loved both the characters stories and it sometimes felt like you were reading two books in one!

The Prison Doctor: My time inside Britain’s most notorious jails by Doctor Amanda Brown

This book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down, I read it in 2 days!!! I am obsessed with prison documentaries, I watch every single one on TV so when finding a book about prisons that was a Sunday Times Best seller I just had to read it! The book is so eye opening and the stories are crazy but it follows Amanda on her journey starting in a juvenile prison, then to a male prison and then a female prison. If like me you are fascinated by prisons I suggest you read this book!

What Would Dani Do?: My guide to living your best life by Dani Dyer

A very lighthearted easy to read book, perfect for lounging by the pool and reading. Dani tells her story all about Love Island and before whilst also giving tips on how to deal with things. If you watched Dani on Love Island and warmed to her then you will enjoy this book too!

The Language of Kindness: A Nurse’s Story by Christie Watson

After reading This Is Going to Hurt which is all about the NHS and loving it I wanted to read some more books about the NHS but this time about nurses. This tells the story of Christie Watson who is a nurse and some of the patients that she has to deal with. I have so much respect for anyone who works in the NHS.

Trust Me, I’m a (Junior) Doctor by Max Pemberton

Again another book about the NHS, can see a theme going on here! This book as the title suggests is all about a junior doctor and follows Max life for his first year as a junior doctor in a hospital in London. This book also share a little bit about Max’s personal life and the stories of him and his friends who are also junior doctors.
