5 Ways To Enjoy A Staycation In The UK

We are finding ourselves booking staycations more and more! We love packing up the car and going on a staycation in the UK! There are so many beautiful parts of the UK to explore it seems a shame to always leave the country! In fact in 2020 we are going to make sure we explore much more of the UK!

Book a Beach Break

You’re never more than three hours away from the beach in the UK. In fact, we think we are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing which seaside town to visit. Okay so we don’t always have amazing weather but we actually really enjoy visiting the beach when it is sunny and cold outside! If you wrap up warm you will be fine!

We visited Brighton and Bournemouth in 2019 and we found that they had a lot of affordable hotels on the seafront such as The Cumberland Hotel in Bournemouth. Many seaside towns also have Caravan parks (we used to stay in one in Devon when we were younger and absolutely loved it!)

Book a UK City Break

The UK also has plenty of cities worth exploring if you’re craving a city break. London is the most obvious example, and of course we are biased because we live here but we honestly think London is just the BEST city ever!

There are plenty of other cities to visit if you don’t fancy London! We really want to explore the Shambles in York, visit the Roman Baths and also take a ferry across the Mersey in Liverpool.

These are just so many great cities on our doorstep than many of us overlook. Hostels can be a cheap accommodation option when staying in a city and also Airbnb is another great option! We always look on the outskirts of a city if we find the city centre is super pricey!

Go on an outdoor adventure

There are also plenty of places in the UK to try some outdoor adventuring. Snowdonia in Wales has been on our bucket list for a long time! Anglesey and the Lizard Peninsula are great destinations for a kayak adventures. Or if you fancy taking part in a run then you should check the let’s do this website and book yourself onto one as they have running events all over the country!

Countryside spa retreat

Many of the UK’s country estates have been turned into beautiful spa hotels (we have one near us called The Grove and it is so beautiful). We love a spa weekend they are always super relaxing and perfect if you need to de-stress! Imagine spending the night in a luxurious room and then waking up and spending the day relaxing in a jacuzzi pool and having a massage- heave!

Attend a festival

The UK is home to some of the best festivals in the world. Getting your hands on a Glasto ticket definitely isn’t easy, but there are plenty of other music festivals!

There are also festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe where you could see everything from live comedy to performance art we visited Edinburgh a couple of years ago and both said we would love to visit whilst the Fringe Festival is on!

Then of course there are plenty of food, wine and beer festivals to be found across the country.

Hopefully we have inspired you to book a staycation this year!
