Valentine’s Day might be slightly different this year if you usually go out for dinner or drinks… We have never been huge celebrators of Valentine’s Day but this year we think more than ever it is nice to have an occasion and something to look forward to!
Maybe it’s time to think outside the box and have a think about what you might enjoy doing! Think at home meal kits, virtual cheese and wine tasting events, cocktail making or just cooking a delicious homemade cooked meal, it’s a Sunday so could always be a roast! Or you could head out for a nice country walk during the day with a flask of wine or another beverage!
Patty & Bun at home
My sister recently got my boyfriend and I a Patty & Bun at home vegan burger kit! It came with 4 vegan burgers, 4 buns, vegan bacon, vegan cheese, condiments and 4 beers! We had so much fun making it and it was so delicious as well! The kits vary in price but have a look and see what you fancy!
Cocktail Making at home
Making cocktails is always so much fun and something you can do without buying a kit! Sit down and decide a couple of cocktails that you want to try and make an evening of it! Head to the shops to buy the ingredients, dig out a board game and some snacks and there you have it the perfect day/evening!
You cannot go wrong with an Espresso Martini, you will need Vanilla Vodka, Kahlua, Espresso & lots of ice! The key is lots of shaking in the cocktail shaker.
We also love a Pornstar Martini which also uses vanilla vodka but passoa, lime juice, sugar syrup and lots of ice. Then don’t forget the shot of prosecco on the side!
£20 Dine in for 2
The Valentine’s Day M&S range is made up of three courses, a side and a bottle and costs just £20 for two people- absolute bargain. There are lots of options from classic food to more exotic foods and they also have some plant based options as well! So if you don’t fancy cooking but you also don’t want a takeaway then this could be the perfect option!
We also checked out the Waitrose dine in offer which is similar to M&S but you get 2 sides and you pick either chocolates or a bottle (think we know what we would go for!)
Sainsbury’s, Tesco & Morrison’s have also got the offer in store so you are guaranteed to find a dine in near you!
Support Local Restaurants
So many local restaurants will be struggling right now and Valentine’s Day is usually a big event for them. So instead of ordering a takeaway from a giant chain why not order locally from your local pub or local Italian!
Head out on a country walk
Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year and we cannot really do much else so why not head out on a nice country walk! This is what we spend the majority of our weekends doing and it is so much fun. Download the All Trails app to find local trails and plan your route form there!
Whatever you decide to do we are sure you will have a great day!
