Every time we travel we have to go to the airport lounge, it just starts the holiday off the right way! It’s very relaxing and the complimentary food and drink is just fab!
As we were travelling from Stansted airport it only seemed right to try the Escape Lounge which is pretty new to the Stansted Airport.
The Escape Lounge is located next to Pret A Manger, which is towards the back of the terminal. You can have access to the lounge for up to three hours and it doesn’t have to be exactly three hours before your flight leaves. We thought this was great as often you don’t get the full three hours due to boarding time! We arrived at the lounge at 3:30pm we we knew we would be boarding at roughly 6:30pm!
When we arrived at the Escape lounge, we were shown to our table by the host and later she returned to let us know our gate number, which we thought was very helpful and a nice gesture.
There is a number of tables in the Escape lounge and a couple of sofas that had all been reserved for larger parties. At the back of the lounge there was also a section for emirates that is cornered off!
Most airport lounges have much better WiFi than the generic WiFi you get in the main terminal and the Escape Lounge did not disappoint. We had a bit of work to get on with so this was really handy!
We helped ourself to a bowl of popcorn and asked the waitress for two glasses of red wine. The red wine was a Shiraz and it tasted pretty good to us (but then we are not wine connoisseurs)!
We like the popcorn option as usually it’s nuts but this made a nice change and Rach doesn’t like nuts so she was over the moon!
There was a wide selection of soft drinks and also juices and cold water that you can help yourself to. They also have fridges that are fully stocked with bottled water. If you are looking for a hot drink then there is also a coffee machine and a wide selection of tea bags.
The food is all self serve which we really like as you can help yourself as and when you want. We noticed there were a selection of sandwiches on offer and cold salads as well. We tried the new potatoes with pesto and kale which were so delicious!
We opted for the chilli con carne with nachos, salsa and sour cream. It was absolutely delicious and we even went back for seconds!
We always find that at the lounges dessert aren’t really a main priority and often it’s just a cake or biscuits etc! At the Escape Lounge they had chocolate muffins, blueberry muffin, raising flapjack and shortbread.
There was also bananas, oranges and apples if you are looking for a healthier option!
There was a good selection of magazines at the Escape Lounge, but as we were on a nighttime flight we didn’t grab any, but would definitely recommend checking out the selection.
Thank you so much for having us Escape Lounge we had such a lovely time and it was the most perfect start to our weekend away to Wroclaw.
