Salted Caramel Protein Reindeer Donuts

My boyfriend has been asking me to make him some protein donuts for ages and with Christmas coming up I decided to finally make some and make them a festive!

Like I said I have never made donuts before so this was a bit of a gamble but they turned out perfectly so I just had to share the recipe with you all!

Ingredients for the donuts

  • 100g coconut sugar
  • 75g coconut oil
  • 70g plain flour
  • 70g protein (I used SFN salted caramel)
  • 1Tbsp agave nectar
  • 2tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 100ml milk I used soya

Topping ingredients

  • 75g Cream cheese
  • 75g Salted caramel protein
  • 1tbsp Agave nectar
  • Pretzels
  • M&M’s

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160oc
  2. In a mixing bowl add the sugar and coconut oil and whisk until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the egg, milk, vanilla, then fold in the flour, baking powder and a pinch salt.
  4. Spoon the mixture evenly into the prepared silicone donut tray and bake for 10 minutes until risen and golden.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  6. Whilst the donuts cool it’s time to make the icing! In a mixing bowl add the cream cheese, protein powder & agave syrup and mix until a paste forms (add more protein if it looks a bit runny).
  7. When the donuts have fully cooled ice the donuts and make the antlers out of pretzels and the nose and eyes out of M&Ms!
