Breakfast at Highgrove House Hotel

After enjoying an incredible dinner at Highgrove House we knew we were in for a treat with breakfast, which we were incredibly excited about because as you know we love breakfast. As the hotel only had 8 rooms breakfast was a lovely quiet affair with relaxing music and attentive staff.

At this hotel there is a small buffet and then the option to pick your hot dish from the menu.
The buffet consistent of croissants, pain au chocolate, yoghurt and granola, fresh berries, fresh fruit salad and a selection of cereals. There was also a jug of milk and a jug of orange juice.

The waitress also offered us tea or coffee, of course we opted for coffee, which was delicious! We also asked for a jug of tap water which was ice cold and infused with lemon slices.

There was a large selection on the hot menu with choices such as the big breakfast, lighter breakfast, veggie breakfast, scrambled egg on toast, porridge, French toast, hot croissant and jam. It was hard to decide what to go for as the big breakfast sounded incredible, however in the end Annie opted for the scrambled egg with hot Scottish smoked salmon and Rach went for the French toast.

The French toast came with 4 large slices with a generous pot of maple syrup and 2 rashers of bacon. The toast was fluffy and cooked to perfection (Rach always worries about this as she doesn’t actually like egg!). The French toast is definitely a dish we would recommend if you visit Highgrove House and it only costs £4.75 that is a bargain!

The smoked salmon was really tasty and Annie doesn’t often have it hot but it made a nice change. The eggs were cooked to perfection and were seasoned perfectly, the menu did say it would be served on toast but mine didn’t come with toast (maybe because we ordered toast on the side). The smoked salmon and scrambled egg was priced at £6.50 which again we thing is incredible!

We sat inside as it was early morning and wasn’t warm enough yet, but we can imagine in the height of summer the tables outside will be lovely. You don’t necessarily have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the breakfast as the sign outside shows breakfast is from 9-noon. If you are in the area this is the perfect place for a delicious breakfast.
