Zadar was one of our favourite places that we visited on our Croatia road trip! We didn’t actually have plans to visit Zadar, but we checked out of an air bnb at Plitvice Lakes a day early and decided to head to Zadar!
Flying to Zadar from London is super cheap, it only cost us £45 (one way) in the height of summer and we booked quite last minute! Zadar is a lot less crowded to Split and also cheaper!
We stayed in Zadar for one night but actually we kinda wish we had a little bit longer in this beaut city! We would recommend 2 nights so you fully get a chance to explore! Find out what we got up to below and where we would recommend you visit!
Zadar top tips:
- Visit 4 Kantuna for dinner and ask to sit in the courtyard out the back! There is also seating out the front on the street and inside if you want the air con! We had such a delicious dinner at 4 Kantuna and couldn’t recommend it enough! I got the pesto Gnocchi with roasted vegetables on the side! if you like a white wine try the Merga victa posip!
- If you fancy a snack (a big snack) or some lunch then head to Crazy pizza for a ginormous slice of pizza for just 14 kuna which is roughly £1.50!
- We spent the majority of our afternoon at Deja Brew Pub! Head here if you like craft beer and a delicious cocktail! My boyfriend was drinking Grif IPA and I had a number of different gin cocktails which were all delicious!
- Wander around the port as it is so pretty and then carry on to the sea front. In the evening there was a night market which was nice to visit.
- Visit Coffee and cake for morning coffee! We went here at around 8:30am and the entire city was so quiet it was so nice walking around without any crowds!
- If you drive to Zadar like we did and your accommodation doesn’t have parking then we would recommend parking in ‘Zona 4’ have a look at the picture before for the name of the car park! It was super cheap for 24 hours!
- If we had had longer in Zadar then we would have gone on a boat trip to Kornati national park! There are tonnes of places to book a boat trip so if you have time then we would recommend looking into it!
- If you fancy visiting a museum then there is the Ancient Glass museum that our air bnb host mentioned to us! This might be good to visit if it is a rainy day in Zadar!
- Head to the Sea Organ on the promenade which was designed by an architect! It sounds like a pipe and whistle that is embedded into the stone steps that run into the sea!
- Almayer Art & Heritage Hotel looked absolutely stunning and we ran out of time to visit for a drink! But if you want to visit somewhere a little bit fancy then definitely check this hotel out!
There is honestly so much more we wish we could have done in Zadar! I definitely want to return to this city in the future!
