App’s we use to edit photos

We love taking photos what blogger doesn’t right? We snap away all the time our camera roll is full of random snaps mostly consisting of food, coffee, fitness and travel are you surprised? One of our favourite parts of taking photos is editing them afterwards, we have so much fun editing our photos it can really bring the photo to life.

Taking photos can be frustrating and sometimes it just doesn’t go your way, nothing seems to work and your creativity is just not up to scratch. We hate these days and often just end up giving up and starting afresh the following day.

Taking and editing photos can be a long task we set aside days where we just have photoshoot after photoshoot changing outfits as we go constantly snapping away. We will then dedicate time to editing the photos making sure we have enough photos to post on Instagram, we are currently posting two a day.

Sometimes we will post a photo on Instagram, stare and it over and over again and decide no this photo just isn’t right and just doesn’t fit with our theme or it might fit with the theme but it is just a crap photo. People that only run a personal Instagram account don’t always get why we are so selective over the pictures we choose to post but the quality of the photo is so important on Instagram now days.

We only use three apps when editing our photos which we will go into more detail about below:

Instagram- Of course Instagram is going to be one of the apps we use when editing our photos. This is usually the last app we will use just before posting the photo. If we choose to use an Instagram filter we will always choose the filter ‘Aden’. It is by far our favourite filter and makes any photo look completely magical. It’s very rare we use any other filter on Instagram they just don’t match up to Aden.

Afterlight- This was the first app we ever purchased and swore by it for so many years. We do still use it today mainly for cropping, rotating and changing the brightness/contrast of a photo. Although it isn’t our favourite editing app at the moment we still use it on a regular basis and would definitely recommend it.

VSCO- This is the latest app we have started using, at the beginning of October we were completely obsessed with Zoella’s Instagram it was so beautiful and enough to get anyone in the autumn spirit. We saw on Twitter that she used this app so after having downloaded it a few months before and never using it we decided to give it a go. We absolutely love it and it is the app we are currently obsessed with. The only downside to this app is the fact you need an internet connection to use it.

We always try to use the same filter when editing our photos to ensure our photos fit well together on our Instagram grid. Although we don’t follow a strict theme we do like our grid look aesthetically pleasing.

During the autumn months we decided to have a pop of orange in the majority of our photos and always used the VSCO P5 filter on our photos. This filter didn’t fit on all photos so sometimes we went for C1 and Aden on Instagram but we always cross checked the photos to check that they fitted well together- you can see an example of our Instagram below.

How to De-Stress over the Holidays

Life can be so hectic and sometimes the only time we allow ourselves to chill at home not doing much other than eating and spending time with family is at Christmas time. We have spoken to endless amounts of people about this prior to writing this post and almost everyone says the same thing- Christmas is the only holiday we spend at home doing nothing and don’t feel guilty for it.

It’s important that we have time to switch off from everyday life and the stresses that can come from it. Take the time to do the things you love but don’t usually prioritise or have time to fit in around your daily routine whether this is baking a cake, going for a run, painting your nails or watching your favourite TV show that you are now 5 seasons behind on.

This shouldn’t be just at Christmas time though, try and schedule a weekend in every now and again where you just spend time doing the things you really want to do. We always talk about how much we LOVE these weekends, we wouldn’t want these kinds of weekends all the time because we wouldn’t appreciate them as much but it is nice when you have been so hectic just to sit at home on a Saturday evening with a glass of wine in hand watching your favourite TV show.

We have set ourselves a challenge to make sure we start to schedule in these weekends, putting our self-care and health as a priority. This is going to be really hard for us because we always love being on the go making the most of our weekends and making them as jam packed as possible, but we know sometimes we end up burning the candle at both ends and it usually results in us becoming poorly which isn’t something we want.

So we urge you to do the same as us, start off with Christmas (if you can and have the time off work). Really allow yourself to switch off from your daily routine, say goodbye to the stressful morning commute, work deadlines and everything anything else that angers you or causes you stress on a daily basis. We can assure you your body and mind will thank you for it and you will feel so much better for it, going back to work in January feeling refreshed with a new optimistic mind that is ready to smash everything that comes your way.

So we are going to help you to start, grab a pen and paper and write down everything you love doing in your spare time that you want to do regularly going forward you can see some of the things that are on our lists below:

Annie
Bake banana loaf- my favourite
Swimming
Catch up on Nashville- best TV show ever
Go for a long walk in the woods
Straightening my hair

Rach
Painting my nails
Reading and finishing a book
Cleanse my skin
Cross Stich
Reading my favourite magazines

Why You Should Start A YouTube Channel Today

We kept putting off starting a YouTube channel for months and months and we really wished we hadn’t. We always look back and laugh at our first vlog we were so formal sitting at Rach’s breakfast bar introducing ourselves, pulling funny facial expressions and using our hands WAY too much. We wouldn’t change it for the world though and we would never make this video private even if we cringe at it every time.

December is the perfect month to start YouTube especially if you want to vlog there is always so much going on around this time and everyone loves watching vlogmas. It will definitely make your first couple of video’s/vlogs fun and festive. We are excited to vlog during vlogmas, unfortunately we won’t be able to do it every day but we will be vlogging as often as we can.

In October we sat and filmed our first sit down video, up until that point we were only doing vlogs. We decided it was about time we sat down and did a chatty video. We were scared it would be super awkward and we wouldn’t know what to say but it wasn’t and we had so much fun. The first two video we filmed was an ‘autumn haul’ and the second one was ‘helpful blogging tips’ that we decided to post on our blogs 2nd birthday.

We don’t have many subscribers at all but you know what that really doesn’t bother us we love filming and we love the fact we can now go back and watch our holidays or fun days out that we have had. Memories that would have otherwise been forgotten have now been captured and are online for us to watch back forever.

The more you vlog or film the more natural it becomes, you become yourself on camera instead of trying to be yourself. We found this quite challenging to begin with but the more we have vlogged the better we have become (we hope).
