Timeout More Review

We have recently signed up to Timeout More which is a perks card that gives us things for free, sounds amazing right? We are absolutely loving all the perks so far and since signing up we always make sure we check Timeout More before booking a restaurant to see if we can pick up a perk!

Timeout More costs £29.99 for 12 months which is £2.50 a month which we think is 100% worth it and like they say that is less than a coffee! It’s definitely worth it if you are like us and enjoy eating out which we all know can be expensive in London.

There are so many perks available including: Que jump, free cocktails, secret dishes, menu upgrades, free starters and sides and the best thing of all is that you can use the offers when you want even in peak times.

It is really quick and easy to purchase the card all you need to do is sign up online, they will send you an activation code to your email and you are ready to go!

You can browse the offers available at the Time Out More browse page, each venue has its own listings page with details of the offers they have including any terms and conditions they have.

We visited The Real Greek this week and of course we made sure we checked Timeout More prior to booking a table to see if we were able to claim any perks and luckily we were!

We were both able to order a drink for free which was a bonus we went for a prosecco as we were not feeling the beer! The waiter was a little unsure as to what the Timeout More card was but he spoke to his manager and it was fine!

When you are ready to use the offer all you have to do is click the ‘Use Now’ button which will generate a unique offer code. This code will expire after 10 minutes if not used but don’t panic you can always create a new code by just clicking ‘Use Now’ again. Show your code to a member of the team and it really is as simple as that.

There was a £10 minimum spend per person that you had to spend before getting the free drink but we were there for dinner so this wasn’t a problem!

There are hundreds of restaurants that each offer a different perk including: Pizza Pilgrims, Frano Manca, The Real Greek, Where the Pancakes Are, Cote Brasserie, Tortilla, The Modern Pantry, Nonna’s Gelato, Palm Vaults and so many more! You can search by location, venue, cuisine, offer and price point.

If you spot a perk that you want to use but not right away then simply use the ‘Save for later’ button and a copy of the offer will be saved under ‘saved offers’ which is found under the ‘my accounts’ section of the website.

We cannot wait to start using our Timeout More perks card whenever we are out and about in London and we suggest you get yourself one as well!

Laughing At Bloggers

Kindest doesn’t cost a thing, so why are many people so unkind?

This is something we have wanted to write about for quite some time but have put it off as it isn’t the most positive of topics. But you know what we want to be real and with that sometimes comes a bit of negativity.

We both work full time during the week so the weekends are the only opportunity we get to create as much content as possible for our blog and Instagram.

Last Saturday we visited a coffee shop in Shoreditch and ordered our first iced coffee of the summer (exciting times), we stepped outside and decided to photograph our coffees, true blogger style of course!

We will set the scene; Rach was holding the coffee in the air as we wanted to get the shop sign in shot, when we noticed a group of friends pointing and laughing at us from inside the cafe. They were doing it in such a way that they actually wanted us to see, it was incredibly rude and made us feel really self-conscious. I asked one of them if they had a problem with what we were doing, to which one of them deliberately tried to get into shot trying to make it impossible for us to get a photograph without him in it. He was laughing hysterically covering his mouth and pretending to spit out his drink, did he not have anything better to do with his Saturday?

We eventually gave up and sat down on the outside seating area angry and upset with what had just happened, we were discussing the situation with one another when the girl sitting beside us who was also friends with this guy turned around and said ‘this is a public place’, we are not really too sure what she meant by this but surely with it being a public place your friend should have a bit of respect and shouldn’t be so rude?  Would he find it funny if we turned up to his job and started laughing at his work?

We don’t mind if people want to laugh about what we do but when you are deliberately being so unkind about us in front of our faces it’s just not very nice at all. We felt like we were back in the school playground and felt so awkward with the situation we had to leave. We wouldn’t have the audacity to be so cruel to someone, how do these people live a life like that? We would feel awful for being so unkind.

This isn’t the first time it has happened either, if happens every single weekend without a shadow of a doubt we will have at least one person point and laugh, sometimes we ignore it, sometimes we wave at them to which they usually look incredibly embarrassed and run away and other times it really gets us down.

We can’t be the only ones this happens to? When are people going to realise that it’s not that weird being a blogger? Especially not in London!

Ways to keep you entertained on holiday by the pool

pool-2.jpg

We love going on relaxing holidays. The sort of holidays that involve checking in, chucking on a bikini, grabbing a towel, finding your spot by the pool and not moving for a week or two. For the first couple of days we can just sit there ALL day long basking in the sun saying over and over again ‘this is the life’ because lets be honest life cant really get much better. The only thing you really have to worry about for the next week or so is whether or not you have got enough sun cream on because burning is certainly not on our agenda.

But are we the only ones who start to get itchy feet after a few days? We are so used to have hectic schedules where we are running around here there and everywhere that by day three we have some energy to burn. We therefore decided to collect and combine a list of of our favourite things to do to help keep us entertained and gives us another excuse to have an afternoon nap in the sunshine because lets be honest we deserve it!

pool 1

Lilo or Ring- who ever said lilos and rings were for kids? We always purchase a new lilo or ring when we go on holiday because firstly they make the perfect floating sunbed and secondly they are just fun. This year we both had watermelon rings from Primark, they were such a bargain and only cost us £5, when other stores were selling them for like £30!

Uno- this is one of our favourite games to play around the pool and can keep us entertained for hours. If you haven’t played Uno before then you really need to purchase it for your next holiday trust us your competitive side will definitely come out.

Play bat and ball- at the beginning of the holiday we are always shocking at bat and ball we can barely keep a rally going but with a LOT of practice by the end of the holiday we are pretty happy with our rally!

Magazine- Chilling by the pool reading a magazine catching up on the celebrity gossip or latest fitness craze. This year we opted for women’s and Men’s Health which we really enjoyed reading and also learnt some new work out tips as well. Does anyone else on holiday find themselves reading the same magazine over and over again until you eventually read every single article.

Books- we always manage to read so many books on holiday, its one of the only times in the year that we actually sit down and just read. We absolutely love getting stuck into a book that we cannot put down and always try and stick to reading when we get home but then life gets in the way and its not until the next holiday that we get our nose stuck into a book again!

Play would you rather- if you have never played would you rather its a game where you ask someone a question that starts with ‘would you rather’ and ends with a dilemma for example  ‘would you rather shave your head or not go to the gym for one year’.  The more you play the game the more ridiculous the dilemmas become.

Drink cocktails- need we say more?

We have started a YouTube channel!

We love watching vlogs we watch so many different YouTubers vlogging about all sorts of things. The more we watched the more we wanted to start our own channel. We wanted to be able to watch back on our adventures just like we watch everyone else’s. Imagine in five years time being able to watch back vlogs from a holiday or a day out.

The entire ‘Three Brits’ brand was originally going to be a YouTube channel, as well as other social media platforms but we always wanted to prioritise YouTube. That never really happened and instead Instagram, Twitter and the blog took priority. To be completely honest we were terrified of vlogging and didn’t have a clue what to say to the camera. We posted our first and only video in October 2015, we didn’t talk in the video and instead had music playing in the background as we filmed our day on a GoPro. We have since made the video private as we wanted to start fresh in March 2017.

So many people told us to start a YouTube channel but we just never thought people would actually want to watch our videos. We decided to set it as one of our New Years resolution (we know who ever sticks to them) but when Three Brits is concerned we always make a special effort to stick to our goals and aspirations because they challenge us and help us develop. So March came around and we had our friends wedding on the 11th March so we decided it would be the perfect day to film our first vlog. We edited the video the following weekend and it went live on Saturday 18th March 2017 there was no going back now!

We thought we would find our first vlog so awkward especially introducing ourselves but do you know what we didn’t find it awkward at all. Once you forget about people looking at you it’s fine, plus we do have each other which makes it slightly less scary.

We originally thought we would have loads of takes for our introduction but we were actually happy with our first take. We know it wasn’t perfect (we may have used our hands a lot and pulled some questionable facial expressions) but you know what that’s us and we are not perfect and nor do we want anyone to think we are.

We have a lot of work to do but we are really excited to improve our skills both filming and editing. We can’t wait to look back in the future at our first video and laugh like we do with our blog and Instagram photos. We are glad we waited to start YouTube and didn’t peruse it from the beginning, we have learnt so much about social media in the past year that we think it will really help us run our YouTube channel. It has already been so much fun and we hope you will follow us on our journey and enjoy watching our vlogs and videos.

Massive shoutout to our Twitter family who have been supportive as ever (we know we can always count on them). We couldn’t be more thankful for your continuous support and for encouraging us to start the channel in the first place.

Please subscribe to our channel where we will be posting regular vlogs, workout videos, sit down chatty videos and what I eat in a day videos. We are always looking for ways to improve so any tips would be great!

It’s okay to stand up for yourself!

stand-up-3

Recently we were put in a situation where we had to stand up for ourselves. At first we were scared to speak up, we felt intimidated by the group of people that we didn’t know very well. The problem was ruining our weekend and after a quick chat we decided we had every right to speak out as we were not the ones in the wrong.

Stand up 1.png

Standing up for yourself can be really challenging and incredibly scary but once you have done it you will feel a sense of relief and so much better about yourself afterwards. I think people sometimes think that standing up for yourself can make you argumentative but that doesn’t have to be the case, people should respect your opinion.

Stand up 2.png

When we don’t stand up for ourselves we end up feeling frustrated and misunderstood.   We have walked away from so many situations and end up wishing we had dealt with the situation differently and spoken up.

In the last few years we have learnt to stand up for ourselves and one another why should we let people walk over us and think it is okay to be disrespectful. It has taken hard work, perseverance and hundreds of pep talks but we are finally there and we will not be turning back anytime soon.

Are you lacking fitness motivation?

Scrolling through Instagram is sometimes enough to motivate us to get to the gym. Our Instagram feed is full of fitness fanatics who never seem to lack motivation. This isn’t true though, people only show what they want to show on Instagram so it is important to remember these people do run out of energy and can also lack motivation!

Everyone has those months were they are feeling less motivated. Most of the time motivation and consistency is never a problem for us, we look forward to going to the gym in the morning, but we do notice it takes us a little bit longer to get out of bed during those cold winter months.

fit 1.png
We love the lifestyle we lead and we never desire another routine or lifestyle. When we have a bad day at work working out really helps us regain a positive attitude. It’s our place where we can switch off from the rest of the world and just focus on our work out. 99% of the time we will leave and have a completely different view on the problems we were facing beforehand.
Fit 2.png

Below are a few tips to help keep you dedicated and motivated to your fitness regime:

Don’t stress- It’s really important you don’t stress yourself out if you cannot fit a work out in, stress can cause de motivation. Sometimes other things get in the way that you have to prioritise and that’s just life. You aren’t going to throw away all your gains just because you missed a class. On the flip side of you do miss a class don’t let this demotivate you, get back up and go again tomorrow.

Make fitness part of your life but not your life- it’s so important you have the correct balance, that’s not to say that you should feel bad for turning down an event if you have your favourite fitness class that night. If you find yourself constantly doing this you could find yourself falling out of love with fitness. We like to work out in the morning so we can plan to see our friends and family during the evening.

Eat well- when we don’t eat a healthy balanced diet our body tells us off! We wake up feeling sluggish and lethargic with little or no energy. We know our bodies don’t agree with too much sugar and salt so it is important we personally eat this in moderation. Don’t restrict yourself though as you are likely to fall off the wagon, instead eat a balanced diet treating yourself every now and then.

Find a friend- working out with a friend can be so motivating! They are there to motivate you and maybe even get you there in the first place. If you have arranged to meet a friend in the morning you are less likely to stay in bed!

Pack your bag- we always pack our bag for the next day before going to bed! We also like to place our gym clothes by the bed so we just have to pull them on and go!

Set yourself a goal- we like to set ourselves regular goals so we have something to work towards. A few examples would be: run a certain distance, lift a certain weight, do a deadlift, do a pull up etc.

What are your top tips for keeping motivated, we would like to know!

Our love for Blogging

image-4We started our blog over a year ago in October 2015 but never really posted anything regularly. We were new to the blogging scene and didn’t really know what we were doing. We would write posts about fitness, travel and food as this is what we were and still are passionate about.

One evening we decided to have a blogging evening and decided we wanted to up our game. Firstly we knew we had to change the design of our blog as we were really unhappy with the way it looked. We did some research on how we could change the design on WordPress and finally found one we were happy with. We also knew we had to pay for a domain as we didn’t want www.threebrits.wordpress.com any longer, I mean no one was going to take us seriously with a URL like that. We had such a productive evening and it got us excited for the months ahead! We Planned so many blog posts that evening so we knew the direction we were heading.

image-2

Instagram has always been our favourite social media platform, we love taking photos and could scroll though our insta feed for hours at a time. When we first set up our blog In October 2015 we focused a lot of our time on Instagram and definitely neglected Twitter. Some people might find this odd, because now we have been blogging for a while we have realised that Instagram is the hardest place to get followers! Its all a learning curve though right!?

We didn’t really know what to use Twitter for, we connected our blog to twitter and tweeted the odd tweet but that was as a far as we went. One evening we came across something called a Twitter chat and decided to join in and it’s safe to say we have never looked back! Everyone we have spoken to on Twitter has been so supportive. The blogging community has some of the most positive, professional and humble people we have ever spoken to and they have encouraged us to make decisions we would never have made before hand.

Twitter chats are great, and we look forward to joining in on them in the evening (they are usually between 6-9pm GMT) and meeting new bloggers and finding blogs to follow. We really enjoy the Sunday chats, the perfect end to the weekend. A couple of weeks ago we held our first twitter chat, it was so much fun an we cannot wait to do another one.

image-6

Last December we decided to bite the bulett and share our blog with our family and friends on Facebook something we had never done before. We were embarrassed and scared to share our blog with people we knew and we don’t really know why. We love our blog we talk about it and work on it all the time so we don’t know why we were so scared to share it with people. When we did finally share it on Facebook we were so overwhelmed with the support we got especially from people we hadn’t seen or spoken to in years.

Some people would probably think we are mad for getting up at god knows what time on a Saturday morning for photoshoots in the freezing cold or spending our Friday evenings baking instead of going out and drinking.

We honestly don’t know what we would do without our blog, it is a hobby that we have fallen in love with and have so much planned for the future.

BLOGMAS Day 20 – Department Stores at Christmas

The best time to visit department stores is without a doubt at Christmastime. You are sure to see some epic Christmas lights and Christmas window displays to get you in the festive mood. No matter what city you are in the department stores will not let you down

Selfridges-Selfridges in London, Manchester or Birmingham is great.  All brands, products and Christmas gifts all under one roof what more do you want. Browsing the food halls in Selfridges is always a delight, especially when they are giving out free samples. The Selfridges in London always has great window displays, with the front of the store adored in lights. When in Selfridges do not forget to visit the Christmas department, maybe it is your tradition to buy a new bauble each Christmas, or maybe you need some inspiration – Christmas Shop is the best place to start! Selfridges in London has a new bag hall and its amazing, so do not forget to check it out!

Harrods-Harrods is so beautiful covered in all the lights and is such an iconic building in London. Even if you cannot afford to buy anything here its always such a great experience. The food hall is simply stunning the decor is amazing. Do not forget to visit the white and black halls with the perfume (also know as the perfumery and cosmetics hall).  Do not forget to visit the signature Harrods Christmas World which transports you to a magical Christmas world (not literally!) If you are wanting to treat yourself why not visit The Georgian for Afternoon Tea.

Hamley’s- You are never too old to visit Hamley’s and its even more of a fab and magical experience at Christmas time. As soon as you enter the doors you feel like a kid again, with the shop assistants flying aeroplanes around you or showing you magic tricks, theres something for everyone here and you won’t be disappointed. I would advise to go early to later in the day as Hamlets as become somewhat of a tourist attraction. Do not forget to purchase the iconic Hamley’s Bear!

Fortnum and Mason- When in London, you must visit the “Queen’s Supermarket” (!!). Fortnum and Mason transports you back in time and its so quintensitally English you will want to spend all day here! From sampling chocolates on the ground floor to googling handbags. Do not forget to visit the Christmas Hamper department and look at the iconic F&M Hampers. They make excellent Christmas presents too!

John Lewis- Who doesn’t love John Lewis, and I think its their delightful staff that make the shopping experience what it is. Nothing is ever trouble for the partners and they are always there to help. The great thing about John Lewis is that most towns and cities in the UK will have one, so anyone can visit! We do love the John Lewis cafe because their shortbread and flapjacks taste amazing! However if you happen to visiting the John Lewis on Oxford Street make sure you visit the roof garden in association with The Gardening Society. You can purchase Christmas trees here and also enjoy some food or a glass of champagne. There aren’t that many tables so I would advise you to book. However if you don’t mind sitting outside with your drink its okay to just turn up.

Liberty – A quintessentially British department store is a must see at Christmas. Liberty has a whole floor dedicated to Christmas (floor 6 to be precise!) and its a magical winter wonderland. Even if you don’t buy anything its nice to visit Liberty’s and do a spot of window shopping. Liberty’s is located at the top of Carnaby Street so why not check out the cool lights here and there are many shops to visit here too!

BLOGMAS Day 11 – Christmas Sleepover

image1

We have always loved girly sleepovers, when we were younger we would have sleepovers almost every weekend. Although our sleepover may be a little different now (we certainly won’t be staying up all night) we still have just as much fun.

This year we decided to have a Christmas themed sleepover. We went to H&M beforehand and picked out some brand new matching pyjamas because what’s a sleepover without brand new Pyjamas? This year we got Disney pyjamas making our Christmas even more magical.

Next up was to choose our Christmas film and of course we chose Elf! If you are reading this and you haven’t yet watched Elf you need go watch it straight away. Will Ferrell stars as Buddy the Elf and it is sure to get you feeling festive.

Whilst watching Elf we also enjoyed some freshly baked mince pies and ginger snap biscuits we had baked earlier on in preparation for our Christmas themed sleepover. We also sipped on hot chocolate and herbal teas from our Santa clause mugs as it was a chilly evening and we needed something to warm us up.

We definitely are showing our age as we were all tucked up in bed ready to sleep by 10:30pm. When we were younger we would have been causing all sorts of havoc, but our alarms were set as we were up early the next day going for a run and cooking  Gingerbread pancakes for breakfast! mmmm so festive!
