The Somerville Hotel Review

One of the best 4 star luxury hotels Jersey has to offer is The Somerville Hotel nestled in the hills overlooking the charming harbour that is St Aubin- a definite must visit if you are visiting Jersey.

We stayed at The Somerville Hotel in January whilst we were visiting Jersey for the weekend. We had only ever read good reviews about the hotel and we had been dreaming about staying there for a few years. It was the perfect location for us as well as we had a birthday celebration at the hotel restaurant on the Saturday afternoon.

Upon arrival the staff checked us in and made sure we knew exactly where to find our rooms. We were allocated a room on the first floor which had incredible views overlooking the sea.

The room was a good size it wasn’t huge but it was perfect for the two of us. The room was attractively furnished and each room is furnished slightly differently ensuring they all have character whilst at the same time all adding a sense of comfort and charm.

We had two really good nights sleep, the beds were super comfy, they had a selection of pillows to choose from and even with the windows open we didn’t get woken by any outside noise.

The bathroom was immaculate and we noticed the elements shower products right always. If you haven’t smelt elements before you NEED to the products smell divine.

We also loved the dressing gowns, nothing beats getting out the shower and wrapping up in a warm dressing gown that has been heating on the towel rack.

The room was quite hot upon arrival so we opened the windows and spoke to the receptionist on our way down for dinner to switch the heating down, which didn’t seem to be a problem.

The Staff at The Somerville are efficient and incredibly polite, the service they offer is 5 star and you never get the feeling that anything is too much to ask. The staff are always on hand to help making sure your stay is as comfortable and as relaxed as possible.

A self service breakfast is available which is of course one of our favourite things about a hotel, you can read our Somerville breakfast review here.

We went for a wonder around the gardens in the morning as we wanted to get a closer look at the pool. The Somerville have a heated pool that is open from May- September so unfortunately we couldn’t go for a dip but we imagined how peaceful it must be during the summer months- another reason to return.

The food at the Somerville restaurant cannot be faulted. We had a three course lunch that also deserved a post of its own. The hotel bar staff are also incredibly knowledgable about drinks and make the most delicious cocktails. We love gin and the way they served it was just superb.

There is WiFi at the hotel which works well, it is open WiFi so no password is needed you just log in via twitter or a form.

It’s easy to see why it’s one of Jersey favourite most talked about holiday hotels. We certainly Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, we had the most perfect stay.
